TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of Sepehr Energy Holding said three major petrochemical projects were planned to come online in Iran which will add 5 million tons to the country’s annual methanol production capacity.

According to the holding, Davood Bagheri said the projects will be Sabalan, Dena and Siraf petrochemical plants each with 1.65 million tons per year of production capacity.

He said the holding, by relying on domestic capabilities and confidence in Iranian experts and engineers, is completing the projects which have so far gained 94 percent progress and are being prepared for entering the market.

Despite the fact that we are faced with draconian sanctions, the Islamic Republic of Iran is in very good terms with China as the largest consumer of methanol in the world, he argued.

The projects will operate as subsidiaries of the holding, turning it into a leading methanol-producing body in Iran.
