TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The head of the Energy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said: "The products presented at the Iran Plast exhibition will increase the hope for more employment, self-sufficiency and cut dependence on foreign parts and materials."

Fereydoun Abbasi, speaking on the sidelines of a visit to the 14th Iran Plast Exhibition, told NIPNA that Iran has so far gained major petrochemical achievements, adding, "With a jihadi management, we can go through the leaps of this industry in a shorter period of time."

The Chairman of the Energy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly continued: "By expanding the cooperation of oil, gas and petrochemical industries with universities, research institutes and researchers, we can be an exporter of specialized services in these industries, especially in the petrochemical field."

He considered export of specialized services as one of the ways of the country's revenue generation, and said: "We have specialists in the private and public sectors who have the ability to provide very high quality services to other countries, and we hope this will be supported by the Ministry of Petroleum."

Abbasi pointed to the need to establish a regulatory body in the petrochemical field, and said: "The government should also play its role in this field, but leave the private sector free to develop."
