Morteza Shahmirzaei addressed the official opening ceremony
of the 15th Iran Plast International Exhibition on Monday morning, pointing out
that at the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, the actual annual production
of petrochemical products was only 1.5 million tons per year. Iran's
petrochemical industry has now reached more than 90 million tons of annual
production capacity.
He called the current capacity of polymer production in the
country more than 10 million tons, and added: “By the end of the seventh
development plan and with the completion of ongoing projects, the installed
capacity of the industry to the 2027 horizon will cross 140 million tons per
year and in a 4-year horizon to 2032 will reach 200 million tons per year.”
The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company said that
everyone should contribute to the development of this industry, adding that the
demand for liquid products will reach zero in the next 10 years and investments
should be made to increase petrochemical products and develop the value chain.
