The official was launched on Saturday, May 27, 2023, with the aim of
accelerating and facilitating the presence of knowledge-based companies.
According to the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization, the
opening ceremony was attended by Mohammad Esmaeil Kefayati, the head of the Oil
and Gas Innovation and Technology Park, and Payam Barzegar, the CEO of the
Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization.
Barzegar said at the ceremony: "The memorandum of understanding
with the Oil and Gas Innovation and Technology Park is one of the main
approaches to increase and improve the communication between knowledge-based
companies and industry."
He added: "The presence of knowledge-based companies in the
Petrochemical Special Economic Zone will have many blessings and the innovation
ecosystem will have more cooperation and dimensions with the signing of this
memorandum of understanding."
He continued: "We intend to enhance the level of communication
between knowledge-based companies and industry and move towards
operationalizing ideas, as there are many capacities in the petrochemical
special zone."
The CEO of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization,
referring to the holding of the Petrofan Zone technology event in February 2023
in the special zone, said: "After the Petrofan Zone technology event, in
which 34 memoranda of cooperation were signed with petrochemical companies,
several knowledge-based companies requested land after seeing the space in the
area to pursue their activities more seriously and with presence near
petrochemical companies."
Barzegar said: "In order to support knowledge-based companies, we
have on our agenda allocating a space by a private sector investor that we will
provide to applicants after completing construction and obtaining
permits."
He added: "Our pride is to be able to host young scientists and
valuable people of Islamic Iran and have people who are powerful and hopeful
for the future alongside industry."
The CEO of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization said:
"We want to make the scientific space in the special zone and the
technological, innovative and knowledge-based ecosystem speak first in the
region. The high capacity of $30 billion in the special zone and the relatively
long life of industries is a very valuable opportunity for knowledge-based
companies."
Barzegar said: "We hope that with the opening of the Oil
Innovation and Technology Park office, the ecosystem of knowledge-based
companies will become richer and we will become an exemplary region for the
presence of knowledge-based companies by chaining innovative companies and
synergizing human capital and technological capabilities of knowledge-based
companies."
Russia, an applicant for Iranian petrochemical catalysts
The head of the Oil Innovation and Technology Park also said at this
meeting, which was attended by students from Amir Kabir University: "There
are many capabilities in the country, one example of which is in
petrochemicals, producing catalysts that are popular in Iran and the world."
He added: "Russia is interested in using catalysts that are
produced in this country by young people from this land."
The director of Oil Industry Innovation and Technology Park said:
"The demand for Iranian catalysts was so high that Iranian companies did
not have the capacity to respond to this volume of demand by Russia."
Kefayati added: "We thank the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone
Organization for hosting us for opening and settling our office in this
area."
He said: "I hope that by settling our office officially, we can
respond to issues related to knowledge-based and technology companies as soon
as possible and be helpful to our young scientists."
