TEHRAN (NIPNA) - Iran's deputy petroleum minister and head of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Morteza Shahmirzai gave a mission to the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) to identify and localize new technologies for the petrochemical industry, in addition to producing petrochemical catalysts.

Shahmirzai praised the performance of the PRTC in the past year, and said: "With the efforts of all colleagues, by the end of the 13th government, all the catalysts needed by the petrochemical industry will be localized and the companies will be able to supply their required catalysts without dependence on foreign countries."

Shahmirzai stressed that along with the localization of catalysts with the focus on the PRTC, it is necessary to continue the indigenization of processes and technical knowledge seriously.

He said that the participation and cooperation of petrochemical companies should be facilitated to complete and develop the technologies needed by the industry, adding: "The PRTC can meet many of the needs of the companies with joint cooperation in various sectors such as technical knowledge, catalysts and goods and equipment, given its existing infrastructure."

The NPC chief added: "The PRTC should also benefit from a database of experiences and knowledge of veterans and activists of the petrochemical industry in the path of developing activities and using creativity and knowledge of colleagues who have been active in the value-creating petrochemical industry for years."

Shahmirzai told the PRTC's managing director and board members: "Identify innovative technologies and use specialized teams to meet the needs of the petrochemical industry."

The deputy petroleum minister said: "The indigenization of technical savvy should be prioritized and the PRTC should cooperate with other scientific and research centers for localization."

He emphasized the need to achieve balanced development of Iran's petrochemical industry, and said: "Completing the value chain as a goal should be considered and by investing in holdings and petrochemical companies, we should reduce raw material sales and move towards producing final products."
