TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- A memorandum of understanding (MoU) focusing on the development of an innovation and technology ecosystem related to the knowledge-based sectors of the oil, gas, petrochemicals, and downstream industries has been signed between Iran's Scientific and Technological Deputy of the Presidency and Aryasasol Polymer.

The agreement, which aligns with the policies set forth by the Supreme Leader's directives to support and grow the knowledge-based economy in the country through significant contributions by large corporations, as well as the goals of the 13th administration to develop capacities, promote collaboration, and achieve a knowledge-based economy, was signed during an afternoon ceremony on Monday, September 18, at the Aryasasol Polymer booth at the 17th IranPlast International Exhibition.

Seyyed Mohammad Javad Sadri-Mehr, Assistant to the Scientific, Technological, and Knowledge-Based Economy Deputy of the Presidency, recounted the extensive efforts made by this department in supporting knowledge-based companies. He stated, "The Scientific, Technological, and Knowledge-Based Economy Deputy of the Presidency has undertaken extensive initiatives to support the 10,000-member ecosystem of knowledge-based companies and is currently engaged in various other projects."

Sadri-Mehr also highlighted collaboration with petrochemical companies, saying, "In the field of localization of parts and domestic manufacturing, we have undertaken numerous activities in collaboration with the country's petrochemical companies."

In conclusion, Sadri-Mehr emphasized, "In terms of creating and sharing knowledge among petrochemical companies, we have established numerous platforms for cooperation with innovation and technology centers, and some are currently in development."

The official also noted the establishment of a risk-taking investment fund with the participation of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) with a capital of over 10 billion tomans.

He lamented the fact that many knowledge-based companies had not been able to provide their cutting-edge technology to the country's petrochemical industry due to a lack of capital and high risk. Therefore, the Scientific, Technological, and Knowledge-Based Economy Deputy of the Presidency is striving to bridge the gap between these companies and the value-creating petrochemical industry.

Sadri-Mehr also spoke about the creation of a co-innovation model for companies to enhance connections between knowledge-based companies in the downstream sector and the petrochemical industry, stating, "The operationalization of this model and the introduction of new technologies will lead to a reduction in raw material sales in this industry. Additionally, the Scientific, Technological, and Knowledge-Based Economy Deputy of the Presidency ensures the quality and quantity of technology used by petrochemical companies."

Native Production of New Polymer Grades on Aryasasol's Agenda

Mohammad Reza Heydarzadeh, the CEO of Aryasasol Polymer, pointed out the company's capabilities in innovation and technology, saying, "Last year, relying on our company's capabilities in this field and in cooperation with the Scientific, Technological, and Knowledge-Based Economy Deputy of the Presidency, we successfully developed and registered the LEC1969 polymer grade as one of the country's essential needs."

Heydarzadeh expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the Scientific, Technological, and Knowledge-Based Economy Deputy of the Presidency, stating, "With the production of this grade, a significant portion of the country's needs is met, making Iran self-sufficient in this product."

The CEO of Aryasasol Polymer emphasized the company's pioneering role in the field of innovation and knowledge-based activities, welcoming the country's available capacities in this regard.

Heydarzadeh declared, "The result of signing this agreement will undoubtedly lead to the production of new polymer grades in the country." He added, "Last year, for the first time, we produced the strategic polymer grade LEC1969 in the country, preventing an annual outflow of $20 million in foreign currency."

He noted that Iran is one of the world's three countries holding the strategic polymer grade LEC1969 and said, "With the collaboration of the Scientific, Technological, and Knowledge-Based Economy Deputy of the Presidency, we are currently preparing the groundwork for the domestic production of several other new grades, and good news in this regard will be announced soon."

Based on this report, the establishment of a platform for the development of an innovation and technology ecosystem related to the knowledge-based sectors of the oil, gas, petrochemicals, and downstream industries, with a focus on creating and developing a specialized innovation center for the oil, gas, petrochemicals, and downstream industries, promoting projects and innovative ideas in this specialized industry, identifying the strategic and macroeconomic needs of the country in the oil, gas, petrochemicals, and downstream industries, and developing the value chain in this industry using the capacities of technology and knowledge-based companies, and utilizing the capabilities specified in the Innovation Development Act in the innovation ecosystem and creating technology and knowledge-based nuclei for the petrochemical industry are among the commitments of the two parties in signing this agreement.
