In a press
conference held on Tuesday, Morteza Shahmirzaei, emphasizing the government's
commitment to establishing polymer and petrochemical units in various cities
and provinces across the country to enhance value-added production and boost
employment, stated, "The government supports the creation of small-scale
polymer and petrochemical units in all cities and provinces to stimulate
economic growth."
Shahmirzaei
highlighted the synergies between the automotive and petrochemical industries,
noting that these sectors have experienced growth in tandem in recent years. He
also stressed the need to leverage the potential of the country's young talents
and knowledge-based companies to expedite the implementation of the national
localization and domestic production strategy.
Referring to
the effective presence of automakers in the 17th Iran Plast International
Exhibition, Shahmirzaei noted, "The government's policies, including
support for partially operational units and those operating below their
capacity, aim to prevent significant price hikes in petrochemical
products."
The Deputy
Minister of Petroleum announced the initiation of the construction of 13
chemical parks, emphasizing the importance of extending these projects to less
privileged regions in the provinces of Khuzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan, and
Sistan and Baluchestan. He further underlined the need for these polymer and
petrochemical units to create value, boost production, and promote economic
growth and job creation in all cities and provinces.
Shahmirzaei also
touched on the successful sale of 28 trillion rials (credit facilities) in the
first five months of this calendar year, expressing optimism about
collaborative efforts to curb profiteering and intermediation in the sector.
Furthermore,
he highlighted Iran's export of 1,500 tons of catalyst products in the past
year and emphasized the government's commitment to achieving self-sufficiency
and local production of necessary catalysts by the end of its term.
The inaugural
one-day conference on polymer manufacturing, equipment, and technology was
hosted by the Petrochemical Research Institute, with the Industry Employers
Association of Polymer Manufacturers and Equipment Producers serving as
co-organizers.
