The signing ceremony took place with the presence of Morteza
Shahmirzaei, Deputy Petroleum Minister and CEO of the National Petrochemical
Company (NPC).
The contracts were inked between the Petrochemical Research and
Technology Company and prominent academic institutions, including the Polymer
and Petrochemical Institute of Iran, University of Tehran, Shahrekord
University, and Kharazmi University.
The National Oil Catalyst Document, originally formulated in 2011
through a collaboration between the Ministry of Petroleum’s Deputy for
Engineering, Research, and Technology and the Petrochemical Research and
Technology Company, underwent a revision to address the updated needs and
capabilities of the country. This updated version was unveiled by Shahmirzaei
in September 2022 during the 16th International Iran Plast Exhibition.
Shahmirzaei emphasized the critical role of these research contracts
in fulfilling the goals outlined in the National Oil Catalyst Document.
"These collaborations with leading universities and research institutions
will ensure the advancement of domestic technical knowledge and catalyst
production capabilities," he stated.
The comprehensive document aims to identify and harness the country's
needs and capabilities in catalyst production, aligning with Iran's broader
strategic objectives of technological self-sufficiency and economic resilience.
