TEHRAN (NIPNA) - Morteza Shahmirzaei, Deputy Petroleum Minister and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), emphasized the importance of documenting and sharing the experiences of the petrochemical industry's war veterans to pass on their legacy to younger generations.

Speaking at a ceremony honoring the company's veterans, Shahmirzaei highlighted the need to preserve the memories of these individuals, particularly those who endured hardships during the Iran-Iraq War. He stressed that these accounts are vital for educating and inspiring the youth.

"These heroes, who endured immense challenges during their captivity, made significant sacrifices, and it is imperative that we recognize and honor the champions of the Sacred Defense era," Shahmirzaei stated. He referred to the veterans as "living martyrs" and underscored the importance of August 17, marking the return of war prisoners, as a day that symbolizes the bravery of the soldiers who defended the nation.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of commendation plaques to the veterans of the National Petrochemical Company.
