By the end of 2024, Iran's petrochemical industry had converted the
equivalent of 1.1 million barrels of crude oil per day from hydrocarbon
resources, including natural gas and condensates, into valuable petrochemical
products. The nominal production capacity in 72 production complexes (including
those launched in 2024) reached 96.3 million tons annually. Additionally, three
utility complexes in Mahshahr and Assaluyeh provide the necessary services
(electricity, steam, water, etc.) for these production units.

Petrochemical Projects and Investments
The petrochemical sector is currently executing 67 projects with a
total production capacity of 35.2 million tons annually. These projects have
received a total investment of 25 billion dollars, with approximately 12
billion dollars already invested.
Foreign Exchange from Petrochemical Exports:
From the establishment of the 14th government until December, 8.5
billion dollars of foreign exchange revenue has been generated from
petrochemical exports. According to the Central Bank’s reports, 3.3 billion
dollars have been deposited into the Nima system after fulfilling the necessary
foreign currency needs.
Plans to Renovate Mahshahr and Assaluyeh Ports:
To accommodate the increasing export demand, the renovation of the
Mahshahr and Assaluyeh ports is underway. This development will facilitate the
export process and contribute to job creation and increased foreign exchange
earnings.
Key Petrochemical Initiatives:
·
Establishment of a
monitoring task force to oversee the implementation of the 7th Development
Plan.
·
Initiation of the Puyesh
Project aiming for a 10% reduction in gas and electricity consumption.
·
Launch of the Artificial
Intelligence Strategy in the petrochemical industry with over 30 projects
planned.
·
Studies on land use planning
to identify optimal investment opportunities in petrochemicals across various
provinces.
·
Introduction of new projects
for gas consumption management and strategic planning.
These measures highlight the ongoing efforts to develop and expand the
petrochemical sector, contributing to the economic growth and industrial
advancement of the country.
