Hassan Abbaszadeh, deputy oil minister and CEO of the National
Petrochemical Company (NPC), made the remarks during a local development
council meeting.
“The Asaluyeh region alone has contributed to the development of 48%
of Iran's petrochemical capacity,” Abbaszadeh said, according to state media
Nipna. “More than 85% of the country's petrochemical companies fall under the
umbrella of pension funds, benefiting the public.”
Abbaszadeh highlighted that $40 billion has been invested in the Asaluyeh
petrochemical sector. He emphasized the importance of developing downstream
industries to create more jobs and encourage growth in complementary sectors.
“28 petrochemical projects are currently under development in Asaluyeh
and Kangan, with $30 billion in investment, and these will add 37 million tons
to Iran's petrochemical capacity,” he said.
He also noted that environmental responsibilities remain a top
priority for petrochemical companies operating in the region.
