Ali Rabani, the company's energy consumption optimization manager,
revealed that the initiative, which encourages citizens to participate, targets
reducing both gas and electricity use across residential, commercial, and small
industrial sectors.
"With a 5-6% rise in consumption across these sectors, primarily
due to outdated equipment and uninsulated buildings, the goal is to curb the
increase in demand," Rabani said, emphasizing the need to enforce Building
Code Standard 19 for better energy efficiency.
The NPC has invested $4 billion in upstream oil and gas fields, as
well as efforts to reduce associated gas flaring. Rabani also noted significant
progress in renewable energy projects, with promising developments expected in
the coming year.
He pointed out that the campaign would reduce waste in the energy
sector, where inefficient equipment and power plants are burning up to 120
million cubic meters of gas daily in Tehran alone. This not only leads to more
greenhouse gas emissions but also strains the country's petrochemical industry.
"By increasing public awareness and adjusting temperature
settings for home heating, we anticipate significant reductions in gas
consumption," Rabani added.
In addition to environmental benefits, the campaign offers incentives
for participants, including a giveaway of high-efficiency heaters, with up to
$20,000 in grants for upgrading heating systems or windows.
In a recent lottery, 315 energy-efficient heaters and renovation
grants were distributed to participants in the top three provinces—Mazandaran,
South Khorasan, and Kerman.
Rabani called on all petrochemical companies to join the campaign and
support its goals. “All citizens with gas and electricity subscriptions are
invited to register at nabzenergy.ir to participate and have the chance to win
more rewards while contributing to environmental, economic, and social
improvements.”
