TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The third edition of PetroTech kicked off today with a focus on "New Technologies in the Oil Industry: The Key to Increasing National Wealth," providing a platform for scientific exchange, innovation, and the signing of major contracts in the oil and technology sectors.

At the opening ceremony, Banafsheh Almasinia, Secretary of the third PetroTech conference, emphasized the role of new technologies in advancing Iran’s oil industry, noting that the event aligns with the first year of the Seventh Development Plan for the country. She highlighted the importance of the conference in showcasing the priorities and plans for technological innovation within the oil sector.

This year’s PetroTech features 15 specialized sessions and three workshops, covering topics such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, hydrogen as a future clean fuel, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the oil industry. Almasinia also noted that the accompanying exhibition would showcase 44 knowledge-based companies, with 15 unveiling new products for the first time.

The conference has drawn more than 1,300 participants, including senior executives, university professors, private sector leaders, and representatives from scientific associations. Specialized sessions will feature CEOs from key oil companies addressing technological needs and employer strategies. For the first time, the event will include "Technology Development Narratives," focusing on documenting innovative trends and experiences in the field.

One of the major highlights of the event is the signing of significant contracts. Almasinia revealed that on the opening day, eight contracts worth 757 billion rials and 31 million euros were signed, with an additional 15 agreements, valued at 685 billion rials, scheduled for the second day.

In addition to the signing of these key contracts, nine new products and initial production processes will be revealed, signaling a new phase of technological advancement in Iran's oil sector. Specialized sessions will also cover areas like "Increasing Knowledge-Based Production in Oil and Gas," "Smart Energy Management in the Oil Product Supply Chain," and "Achievements in Petrochemical Industry Research," with the participation of senior officials.

On the second day, additional topics will include "Examining the Capacities of the Knowledge-Based Production Law" and "Novel Financing Methods in the Oil Industry's Knowledge-Based Ecosystem," alongside workshops on digital transformation, greenhouse gas reporting, and hydrogen technology.

The event, which is being held at the Petroleum Industry Research Institute on February 23-24, provides a crucial opportunity for stakeholders in the oil industry to collaborate on solutions that integrate innovation, sustainability, and economic growth.
